GMG Radio, one of the UK's largest radio groups, has today announced a new skills academy titled; 'Futures Factory.' The programme continues GMG Radio's philanthropic commitment to finding, encouraging, investing and developing future generations of radio talent into the industry.

Futures Factory is a twelve week programme which will give up to 12 selected students hands on experience in every aspect of the radio industry and will be run by people doing the job at GMG Radio's state-of-the-art studios in Salford Quays, Manchester.

Applicants from of any age and from any background are encouraged to apply and no formal radio experience is required to win a place in the Futures Factory. The selection panel will be looking for natural talent, bags of enthusiasm and creative thinking. There's space for aspiring journalists who can tell compelling stories, presenters with an ability to engage an audience, digital wizards who'll take the spoken word and create the pictures online and those with a head for business who have sound ideas to help advertisers get ahead. GMG Radio looking for anyone with drive, the ability to think in an innovative way and a commitment to making outstanding radio.

There's no charge for inclusion in the Futures Factory, it's designed to be an open invitation for applicants to impress, win friends and get a job. Highly practical and delivered in a 'no-nonsense,' fun environment, the Futures Factory is all about developing genuine stars of tomorrow in a commercial environment.

Speaking ahead of the launch, GMG Radio North West Managing Director Andy Carter said; "Fresh talent and fresh ideas go together - our sector is moving through rapidly changing times and we're looking for driven people who really get the multiplatform space we now inhabit. GMG Radio's investment into the development of great people extends beyond our current teams to new entrants - we see that as crucial to our continued success and the evolution of our industry."

Interested parties can apply online at gmgradio.com/futures between 24th May and 1st June 2010. Successful applicants will be invited to attend an assessment day in week commencing 14th June then Futures Factory kicks off on 28th June.
